Bactometer Modules
The Bactometers disposable modules are individually packaged
and ready to use. They consist of 16 independent wells with measurement
electrodes fixed in their base. The modules are used with culture
media specially designed for detection of microorganisms by impedance
measurement.
A few of the Bactometer modules many benefits include:
- Reduced operator exposure to pathogens and microbial contaminants
- Reproducible results
- No washing
- No risk of detergent carryover
- No electrode degradation
- No hidden labor costs
- Predictable running costs
- Solid or liquid media accepted
- Membrane filters accepted
- Lower culture media use
- Defined shelf life
Impedance measurement
Impedance measurement, which can be used to detect small electrical
variations and detect the presence of microorganisms long before
a colony is visible in the culture, is the principle of the Bactometer
test. The molecules of the culture medium (proteins, carbohydrates,
etc.), which are electrically neutral or slightly ionized, are
transformed by the action of the microorganisms into several molecules
with higher mobility and electrical charge (amino acids, lactate,
etc.). These modifications can be measured between two electrodes
in the culture medium.
