Test Systems Obtain CE Marking
HAZELWOOD,
MO - bioMérieux INDUSTRY has announced that their Manual
API Test Systems, the reference method for manual identification
to the species level for microorganisms, have obtained CE Marking
in accordance with the European Union (EU) Directive for In-Vitro
Diagnostic Devices. This European Union Directive is one of many
directives that are intended to eliminate non-tariff barriers
to trade and to assure that products flowing throughout the EU
comply with general safety and environmental norms. The CE Mark
reflects bioMérieux INDUSTRY’s commitment to providing
state-of-the-art products, while increasing safety and security
for their customers.
API offers a large and robust database, with test kits for identification
of
organisms ranging from Gram – to Gram + and yeast. The products
comprise strips
that generally contain 20 miniature biochemical tests. Currently,
there are 16
identification products covering most bacterial groups and over
550 different
species. API strips are economical to run and user-friendly. They
have a long shelf
life, enabling every laboratory to keep API on hand and ready
when needed. API
gives reproducible identification results, with extensive databases
and are standardized,
easy-to-use test systems.
