bioMérieux introduces Count-Tact™ 3P Environmental Monitoring Media, next generation active air sampler air IDEAL™ 3P
St.Louis, MO - April 3, 2006 – bioMérieux INDUSTRY has announced the launch of Count-Tact™ 3P media. This new media was developed specifically for the complex and specific pharmaceutical environment by incorporating “wild” strains, isolated from clean room environment, in the product’s validation. This expanded validation allows superior growth recovery of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms while demonstrating efficient neutralization of sanitizers used to maintain the cleanliness of these controlled environments.
Environmental control continues to play a growing role in the quality management of pharmaceutical manufacturing. Historically, culture media used for environmental monitoring are multi-wrapped, irradiated media dispensed into settling plates or contact plates. To evaluate the performance of these media, the microbial strains described in United States, European and Japanese Pharmacopoeias for sterility testing are typically used. This limited number of strains cannot represent the natural diversity of microbes existing in the complex pharmaceutical environment. Count-Tact 3P removes these limitations and solves the complexity issue.
In conjunction with the launch of this new environmental monitoring media, bioMérieux INDUSTRY also introduces the air IDEAL®3P™. This active air sampler is the second-generation instrument replacing the air IDEAL®.
This new air sampler enjoys the benefits of the air IDEAL with the addition of some new capabilities. The air IDEAL 3P has been validated for use in isolators and can also be programmed to perform sequential sampling, which allows the opportunity for continuous monitoring. This ISO 14968 validated sampler has demonstrated high levels of physical and biological efficiencies through third party validation studies.
About bioMérieux
bioMérieux is a leading international diagnostics group
that specializes in the field of in vitro diagnostics
for clinical and industrial applications. bioMérieux
designs, develops, manufactures and markets systems (i.e. reagents,
instruments and software) used in:
Clinical applications: the diagnosis of infectious
diseases such as hepatitis, HIV, tuberculosis and respiratory
illnesses, as well as pathologies such as cardiovascular diseases
and cancer, based on the analysis of biological samples (such
as blood, saliva or urine); and
Industrial applications: the microbiological
analysis of food, environments (such as water and air), surfaces
and pharmaceutical and cosmetic products, based on the analysis
of product or environmental samples.
In 2005, bioMérieux sales reached 994 million euros.
The company is present in more than 130 countries through 35
subsidiaries and a large network of distributors, which positions
the company well to benefit from the growth potential of the in
vitro diagnostics market. Some important drivers that
underpin this growth are aging populations and age-related
illness, illnesses related to life-style and eating habits,
emerging new pathogens, the development of antibiotic -resistant
bacteria, the fight against bio-terrorism, the recognition
of the importance of the quality of food products. bioMérieux
is listed on the Eurolist of Euronext, Paris (FR0010096479 – BIM).
