Durham, NC and St. Louis, MO
(March 28, 2006) — bioMérieux,
a-leading international diagnostics group, has built its reputation
on innovation, creativity and the pursuit of knowledge. As
a reflection and extension of that innovation, bioMérieux
is seeking talented and inventive young artists to adorn the
company’s two U.S. facilities, located in Durham, North
Carolina and St. Louis, Missouri.
The “Innovation in Art” contest requires students
to creatively capture one of bioMérieux’s product
lines, divisions, solutions or products in a painting. The
four selected themes are Hemostasis, Molecular, Virology and
Bacteriology. As a reward for innovation in art, bioMérieux
will award cash prizes to the top three artists in each state
contest – $3,000, $1,500 and $750, respectively. Donations
in the amount of $1,500 will also be presented to the schools
at which the winning students study art. The contest is open
to all students enrolled full time in an art degree program
at colleges and universities in North Carolina and Missouri.
“We consider this contest to be a significant bridge
between bioMérieux and the area youth,” said Eric
Bouvier, bioMérieux’s North American president
and CEO. “We welcome using artistic expression to inspire
the daily creativity it takes to create solutions-based technology,
systems and applications for an increasingly complex medical
diagnostics industry.”
The medium should be acrylic or oil on a 24x36 or 36x48 canvas.
Artists may choose a theme from the listing of product lines
and register online to compete in that theme. The first 10
registrants for each category will be reimbursed via art supply
store gift card of $100 for materials. Reimbursements will
be distributed upon receipt of artwork submission.
The winners will be invited to attend a ceremony at the nearest
bioMérieux corporate site to receive their award. Entries
must be received by midnight on April 28, 2006. For creative
details and complete rules and eligibility requirements, visit www.biomerieux-usa.com/innovationinart.
