bioMérieux’s New XTRA BioSwab Allows Easier Interpretation of Results

St.Louis, MO - April 3, 2006–bioMérieux INDUSTRY has announced a change in the XTRA BioSwab environmental sampling kit that has increased clarity and allows for easier visual interpretation of growth or no-growth results.

The XTRA BioSwab previously featured two polypropylene sampling tubes. The new sampling tube containing the Tryptic Soy Broth has glass-like clarity due to a change to a K-resin® plastic tube.

The XTRA BioSwab is a ready-to-use test that is comprised of a peel-open pouch containing a sampling swab in a tube with 2 mL of Phosphate Buffer solution and a transport tube with 10mL of Tryptic Soy Broth. The XTRA BioSwab is designed to sample a variety of surface textures and equipment with the advantage of sampling hard-to-reach areas such as equipment crevices and inside pipe work. The double pouch design is gamma-irradiated and VHP-resistant.
